Keep in mind that Shiro Utsuri, as with most koi, will change with age.

Joel Burkard, President of Pan Intercorp, has granted Valley of the Sun Koi Club to link to koi.com. Below, he has pictures and verbage that demonstrate Shiro Utsuri changes over time. Joel's copyright is in place.

So what will your Shiro Utsuri grow up to look like? Time will tell the tale! You can use the search of the WWW below to try and find additonal things about: Shiro Utsuri, Omosako Shiro Utsuri, or just Omosako! Type or copy/paste them in the input box below. You will see our logo with the results! Thanks Google!

"For those VSKC members who participated in the Shiro Utsuri Grow Out contest, let me inform you of what you purchased. My first source was Don Connelly, "Cross Timber Koi and Pondering Stuff" -- a.k.a. Brian Connelly's father. Don makes trips to Japan to buy fish and our VSKC member Brian Connelly buys from his dad. Anyway, during the Judges' walk around on Sunday morning -- I was asked if I knew about the parents of my tosai koi. Since I bought them from CTK -- I went there and asked. I was advised that the Shiro Utsuri are from Omosako from Don himself. My memory is fuzzy, Brian might have said something like that at the January meeting -- I do recall Brian said they were coming from his Dad and they came from Japan. So our Shiro Utsuri(s) are fish from the Omosako Fish Farms and blood line.

Omosako breeds and grows only Shiro Utsuri (at least by what I have read). You can read more about Omosako Fish Farms on Pan Intercorp's koi.com.

Key word is Hiroshima, as those who remember their history, where one of two bombs were dropped. BTW, there is ginrin (as told by the Judges) that looks like cracked glass -- a number of us heard it said -- is a product of the Hiroshima area. I'm musing here: Hmmmmm ? ? ? variations ? ? ? or mutations ? ? ?" from vskc_coder e-mail.
